Peking University delegation visits the University of Michigan

Peking University 16 December 2024: On November 21, Professor Wang Bo, Vice President and Provost of Peking University, attended the Provost’s Seminar on Teaching at the University of Michigan. During his visit, Wang Bo met with Professor Laurie McCauley, Provost of the University of Michigan, and engaged in a comprehensive dialogue with Professor Valeria Bertacoo, Associate Provost of the University of Michigan, to explore opportunities for deeper collaboration between the two universities.

The Provost’s Seminar on Teaching focused on fostering student mental health and well-being through meaningful dialogue, supportive policies, and the cultivation of a nurturing community culture. The seminar also addressed the mental health challenges faced by faculty, highlighting its significance in the academic environment.

Following the seminar, the delegation from Peking University received a warm welcome from Valeria Bertacoo. During discussions with Bertacco, Wang Bo underscored the robust foundation of cooperation already established between the two universities. He proposed further strengthening ties in areas such as summer schools, faculty development, and digital and intelligent education. In response, Bertacco expressed her aspiration to expand student exchange programs and collaboratively pursue innovative developments in higher education partnerships.

In addition to these discussions, Wang Bo also toured key facilities at the University of Michigan, including the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching, the Law School, and the Student Activities Center.
