The European University Centre, together with the School of Government and the Centre for European Studies at Peking University, organizes the fourth edition of its course on European Studies. The program is designed for Master’s and PhD students at Peking University and focuses on Europe from a political, economical, social and cultural perspective.
The course is given in collaboration between the European University Centre (EUC), School of Government and Centre for European Studies at Peking University. The participating universities from EUC are Peking University, Aarhus University, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Autonomous University of Madrid, Lund University, University College Dublin and University College London. Lecturers are from European member universities and are coming to Peking University to take part in the course.
The course gives 3 Chinese credits and will be develop during 13 weeks in autumn 2013 with a final examination seminar in January 2014. Lectures are open to the public; seminars are designed only for enrolled students. Previous studies in European Studies are an advantage, but not a precondition. The students are supposed to have English language proficiency to a level that enables them to follow the lectures and take active part in the seminar discussions.

(BACKGROUND INFO) EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY CENTRE
Peking University and the European member universities have established a European University Centre for cooperation in research and education. The cooperation includes various activities, such as:
(1) Increase the possibilities to establish joint research projects between the involved European universities and Peking University, within various disciplines and faculties.
(2) Increase knowledge of Europe and China by establishing courses in European and Chinese studies at the Master/PhD level.
(3) Arrange conferences at Peking University and at partner universities in Europe.
(4) Become a centre for researchers from the European universities and Peking University focusing on comparative studies between China and Europe.
(5) Become a platform for cooperation between the participating European universities, Peking University and other research universities and research institutions in China like CAS and CASS.
(6) Increase knowledge about European and Chinese university systems.
(7) Service for staff and researchers and general information to students visiting Peking University.
(8) Increase cooperation between the involved European universities, for instance in relation to joint courses/programs, Erasmus-Mundus External Cooperation Window etc, together with Peking University and other selected universities in China.
(9) Be of assistance regarding co-ordination of student and staff exchange between the involved European universities and Peking University.
