Peking University, Nov. 18, 2019: On Nov. 12, 2019, eight scholars from the National Institute of Education (NIE) of Nanyang Technological University of Singapore visited the Graduate School of Education (GSE) of Peking University for academic exchanges.
In the morning session presided over by Wu Xiaomeng, deputy dean of Department of Educational Technology, teachers and students introduced themselves to each other. Professor Yan Fengqiao, dean of GSE, welcomed Singaporean scholars in his speech.
Professor Jia Jiyou, dean of the Department of Educational Technology, Associate Professor Shang Junjie, Associate Professor Guo Wenge and Ph.D. student representative Wang Cixiao, respectively introduced the research and teaching of the Department of Educational Technology, learning science and game research, digital reading research, and collaborative embodied learning.
Dr. Aishah, Associate Professor David Hung, Professor Looi Chee Kit and Associate Professor Wang Qiyun from NIE respectively introduced research on learning science, artificial intelligence and social emotional management, relationship between mathematics and computational thinking, hybrid learning and other aspects.

In the afternoon, Singaporean scholars gave four reports, chaired by Jia Jiyou. Professor Quek Choon Lang shared a case study of tracking a beginning teacher’s attention and teaching actions. Professor Chen Wenli made a report titled “Form Cooperation to Collaboration: Classroom Knowledge Improvement Supported by Technology and Pedagogy". Professor Teo Wei Peng pointed out the limitations of traditional neuroimaging technology and introduced the application of near infrared spectroscopy in understanding human motion control. Dr Erik Erwin Jahner’s report argued that interest is not innate and unchangeable and that it will develop as the environment changes.
Teachers and students on both sides have deepened mutual understanding, consolidated friendship, and laid a solid foundation for extensive cooperation in teaching, scientific research and other fields in the future.
