[Beijing 2022 Olympics] Wang Yukai: Instilling passion into law
Feb 05, 2022
Editor’s Note: Hundreds of PKU Winter Olympics volunteers are currently enthusiastically on hand to assist various volunteering jobs. Though from different backgrounds, they are together using their professions making this annul gorgeous international event successful. Let’s check out their most beautiful smiling faces and volunteering stories.

Peking University, February 5, 2022: Wang Yukai, PKU School of Law Class of 2019 undergraduate student is a volunteer working on the protection of rights in the test events for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. When asked how to balance between academics and volunteering commitments, Wang replied that given his position is on the protection of rights, volunteering for the Olympics enabled him to pick up a lot of legal knowledge. This made up for missing out core modules. Additionally, he squeezed out time to listen to lecture replays and studied in the office after work.

He also performed outstandingly in his duties at the Winter Olympics. Wang mentioned that after he learned he was assigned to a position in rights protection, he worked ceaselessly to supplement his professional knowledge – reading a lot of study materials under the guidance of his teachers, and quickly building up the knowledge framework required of a volunteer. He said, "Volunteers carry out their work with issues pre-empt in mind". While volunteering for the Winter Olympics, he used his professional knowledge to extend the logic of law to work, so that the law embodies warmth in practice.

It has been Wang’s firm belief that "PKU students have been simultaneously developing with the times and the country". In the major events of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the country and the centenary of the founding of the Party, he has provided his services for students in the logistics area. As such, he witnessed the hard work of numerous PKU volunteers behind the scenes. Now, he can finally volunteer and make his contribution. In this Winter Olympics, Wang is a core member of the rights protection field and will thus take on more difficult responsibilities in the event. Together with the other volunteers, he will escort the smooth execution of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
