Professor Han Shihui's The Sociocultural Brain published by Oxford University Press

Peking University, June 1, 2017: Human behaviors have cultural diversity. How to understand the diversity from the perspective of the human brain? In recent years, researchers in the field of psychology and brain science founded cultural neuroscience. They have used many methods and technologies of cultural psychology, genetics and cerebral function imaging to conduct numerous researches aimed at human behaviors' cultural diversity.
 
Professor Han Shihui of Peking University Psychological and Cognitive Sciences and McGovern Institute for Brain Research summarized the research outcome and published The Sociocultural Brain through Oxford University Press.
 
The book introduces the cultural diversity of human behaviors and the psychological mechanism behind it. It particularly introduces fundamental scientific problems and relative methods of cultural neuroscience, differences in human cognitive and behavioral neural mechanisms between the East and the West. It sheds light on how culture effects cognitive and behavioral nerves, how cultural and genetic interactions affect human cognition and behavior. The book also systematically introduces the culture-behavior-brain loop model of human development and discusses how cultural neuroscience helps scientists to understand the essence of human brain and culture, expounds on the relationship between education and brain.

Professor Han Shihui with his team have done systematical research on cultural neuroscience and have made splendid achievement in the field of cultural and individual awareness as well as pain empathy. They have published their work in PNAS, Brain, Psychological Science, and introduced their research results in Nature Review Neuroscience, Trends in Cognitive Sciences, Annual Review of Psychology.
