Peking University, October 7, 2022: With the falling autumn rain and the gradually rising coolness, a grand event turned up the heat on the Peking University (PKU) campus. From September 29 to 30, the 26^th PKU Associations Cultural Festival and recruitment activities of different student associations (SAs) were held by the PKU Youth League Committee. While seniors put on a splendid showcase, freshmen roamed around hoping to find the perfect abode. Come along and witness the bustling sight!




Discover your passions now

PKU houses more than 200 SAs covering a wide range of topics, including regional culture, volunteering service, cooperation & exchange, social practice, academic innovation, culture & art, sports & fitness. These SAs are run by passionate students, and provide a comfortable environment to help students hone their skills and pursue their dreams outside of class, or simply serve as an outlet for relaxation and socializing.
 

In the category of academic innovation, the Algorithm Association focuses on academic science and technological innovation, working to solve mathematical problems in the process of software development.


Members in Youth Amateurs’ Society of Photography record changes of both the campus and the Chinese society, capturing snapshots of their youth.


There are plenty of associations rooted in regional culture. Want to explore China? The Central China Development Research Association focuses on the practical problems of Central China (one of the birthplaces of the Chinese nation), and hopes to contribute their wisdom to the development of their hometowns.


The Cycling Association founded in 1995 is a representative of sports & fitness clubs, and traverses through tough trails and mountains to find the most beautiful scenery. Join them and explore vast expanses with a like-minded group of fitness enthusiasts!


For volunteering services, Educational Knowledge & Devoting Society aims to spread the value of equality in education through conducting teaching support activities.


The Peking University Hong Kong Cultural Association (PKUHKCA) forges strong bonds between students from Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland through exchange activities.


Yum yum! The Culinary and Gastronomy Association belongs to the category of social practice, and they exercise their cooking skills in appreciation of China's long-standing food culture.

Culture & Art

The 100-year-old PKU Student Art Troupe gave a mesmerizing performance that conveyed the spirit of PKU youth. Other students also put on dazzling shows: a band sang lively tunes, and dancers livened up the atmosphere with their suave moves.





Sports & Fitness

The Nunchucks Association gave a performance accompanied by Jay Chou's song, demonstrating the flexibility and discipline of Chinese martial arts, while the Karate Association displayed their strength in board breaking. The Dragon Boat Association and Skiing Association also set up booths to explain their respective sports. Join them now if you are looking to uncover your potential in sports!





A space to think and explore

PKU SAs also provide thinkers with a quiet space to explore. The Astronomy Association gather to look up at the stars and explore the universe, while the Student Scientific Fiction Association watches movies and puts out their own magazines to bask in their imagination of the universe and beyond.




Members in the Chinese Chess Association, Go Association and International Chess Association compete not only in technique, but also sharpen their mentality in the process of communicating with each other.




You may be familiar with the standard 3x3 Rubik’s cube, but there are more to Rubik’s cubes than that! 6x6 cubes, triangular cubes, sphere-shaped cubes… however difficult they may seem to solve, the Magic Cube Society members will teach you all the tips and tricks you need to know.


The Weiming Society for Hongloumeng Studies is for the “Hongloumeng” (Dream of the Red Chamber) fanatics out there. A timeless classical novel written by Cao Xueqin during the Qing dynasty, it spurned “hongxue” (redology), an academic study focused solely on this novel. Join this society to dive deep into Hongloumeng and uncover its secrets!
