
Peking University, March 1, 2025: PKU Clubs and Societies Fair falls this year within the period from February 28 to March 1, 2025, during which 167 clubs, societies and associations set up their stalls before PKU Hall to promote their activities to potential new members of all interest ranges.
A carousel of engaging attendees wandered around the fair, stopping by the tables to see what catered most for them among the eye-dazzling fascination that spans from sports and art, to technologies, languages, cultures, literature, public service, etc.
Journalists with Beida News interviewed some students at the fair, including present members introducing their clubs and societies, and gravitated eventgoers anticipating the enthralling events. Let’s hear what they have to say!
Oleg, Graduate School of Education
While strolling and sightseeing through the fair, Oleg, a Russian Ph.D. student studying education, kindly stopped for a brief interview with Beida News. He said though he did not have any particular club he wanted to join at the moment, he was keeping an open mind for surprises. Having already studied Chinese for five years in Moscow, Oleg spoke in fluent Chinese of his interest in the culture and joked about wanting to play Mahjong.
Liu Shuxin, School of Foreign Languages
Liu Shuxin from the School of Foreign Languages, an aficionado of roller skating encouraged novices to join them in PKUCC, as 5-week basic skill training will be offered twice a week by coaches and assistants. Additionally, Veterans can also hone their skills in figure roller skating. “We take part in roller skating competitions for university students together, and skate across the frozen Weiming Lake in winter,” Liu recounted. “You can have a look at our Wechat official account for more information.”

Rinat, a senior in the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science and also a long-time member of Mountaineering Association of PKU(MAPKU), said the club usually organizes climbing and skiing outings on famous mountains during the summer break, and proudly stated that MAPKU is the only student club in the country with their own skiing and mountain climbing competition teams. He then revealed that their teams are actually preparing for a competition that will be held at the Gangshika Peak in Qinghai Province on Apr 15!
Li Yueci (Left), Department of Information Management
Li Yueci, a member of Students International Communication Association (SICA), elaborated on the events they held on campus and abroad, including cultural exchange projects, academic forums, and daily gatherings. She talked about the celebrations on every Halloween and Christmas, which create memorable experiences for international students, making them feel at home as Pekingers.
Li Yifan, exchange student from Inner Mongolia University and the Department of Sociology, PKU
Li Yifan, an exchange student from Inner Mongolia University pursing her studies at the Department of Sociology, PKU, majoring in social work. Her major has instilled a sense of responsibility in her for the marginalized and disadvantaged groups, and thus she gravitated towards the Student Loving Heart Society of Peking University, where she can be exposed to these different people. “I consider it a great chance to build up interpersonal relationships,” Li said.
