Saudi Arabian Oil Minister Awarded Honorary Doctorate by PKU

Peking University, Nov 17, 2009: On the morning of Nov. 13, Ali Naimi, Saudi Arabian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, was awarded the honorary doctorate by Peking University.

 

At the awarding ceremony, President Zhou Qifeng spoke highly of the contributions done by Mr. Ali Naimi to promote the Sino-Saudi Arabia exchanges. He hoped that the bilateral exchange and cooperation would be furthered and people from both countries would work closely together in the future.

 

Minister Ali Naimi thanked Peking University for the honorary doctorate. Looking back at the history of the University, he gave high praise to the all-inclusive thought of Mr. Cai Yuanpei, former President of PKU. He also introduced the exchange and cooperation in the education sector and other sectors between the two countries. With the two large oil refineries currently under-construction in Saudi Arabia, he believes the cooperation relationship between the two countries regarding petroleum trades will be expanded and deepened. He also hoped that the relationship could be extended to other areas.
