Peking University, Dec. 11, 2012 According to Chinese Chemical Society, researcher Chen Peng from College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering at PKU has been chosen as one of the recipients of 2012” Young Chemist Award of Chinese Chemical Society" (http://www.chemsoc.org.cn/Awards/). This year 10 young chemists in total received this award.
Young Chemist Award of Chinese Chemical Society was established in 1983. The purpose is to honor those young chemists (under the age of 35) who made great contribution in the field of basic chemistry, applied chemistry and chemistry education. This award is given to no more than 10 researchers every year.
Graduated from PKU in 2002, Chen Peng continued his study in USA. He obtained his doctor’s degree from the University of Chicago and did his postdoctoral research in the Scripps Research Institute. After back to PKU in 2009, he became a member of the college’s “Hundred Talents Program” and Principle Investigator of Center for Life Sciences (CLS). Chen’s research fields mainly focused on advanced interdisciplinary studies of chemistry and biology. He received the National Science Fund for Distinguished Youth and was subsidized as top talents by the Organization Department of China.
