Peking University, Nov. 25, 2012: Peking University Men’s Basketball Team won the championship in the 15th China University Basketball Association (CUBA) of Beijing Region with the final score 62:59 against its competitor Tsinghua University. This year the game was held in Beijing Institute of Technology.
Zhao Rui, No.6 of Peking University team, scored three points with the ball passed by his team mate Zhang Meng, marking the beginning of the game. Yet, Tsinghua team followed suit with its guard scoring in the paint. The two teams remained neck and neck in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, PKU team adjusted its strategy, strengthening its defense. It put a lot of pressure on Tsinghua team, resulting four fouls made by its No.6 player who eventually got replaced. PKU team won in the first half with 8 points ahead.
Similar strategy was used by Tsinghua team in the second half of the game and the gap was narrow. But PKU No.11 player Qi Feng controlled the game till the end.
So far, the preliminary session of the basketball competition was over. Peking University got the first prize, Tsinghua University the second, Renmin University the third, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing University of Science and Technology and Beijing Jiaotong University followed.
