Peking University, Oct. 20, 2012: Being part of Peking University International Culture Festival, the International Tour of Australian Open Tennis Championship (ITAOTC) was held in the tennis court of Peking University. Present at the event were Stephen Healy, chairperson of Australia Tennis, Chen Yibing, team leader of China’s Men’s Gymnastics and former Olympic champion, Zhang Sheng, sports commentator of CCTV, as well as representatives from Peking University including Yue Sulan, deputy director of Peking University School Board, Ruan Cao, chairperson of the Youth Union.

Beijing is the first stop of ITAOTC. At 10 a.m. on October 20, the trophies of Men and Women’s Tennis Single arrived at Peking University escorted by members of Australia Tennis.

Yue extended a warm welcome to the delegation of Australia Tennis, speaking highly of the opportunity for teachers and students of Peking University to appreciate the trophy within a close distance. Meanwhile, Stephen Healy also expressed pleasure in communicating with Chinese tennis lovers, hoping tennis would invite more participants in its future events.

The tour symbolized great significance in that it established a platform for communication between Tennis Australia and Peking University, enhanced the influence of 2012 Peking University International Culture Festival and encouraged the public to participate more in sports events.
