[Beijing 2022 Olympics] Spring Festival Gala for PKU volunteers for the 2022 Winter Olympic

Peking University, February 9, 2022: On the afternoon of January 31, Chinese New Year’s Eve, the Spring Festival Gala for PKU volunteers for the 2022 Winter Olympic was held online. PKUers from the Olympic venues, Yanyuan, and the rest of the world came together to usher in the Year of the Tiger and celebrate the start of the Winter Olympics. With various colorful performances, the gala attracted more than 360,000 viewers and was well received by teachers, students, and parents.
 


After a warm and festive opening video, the PKU Olympic Family Assistants and volunteers at National Aquatics Center jointly performed the dance titled “Together for a Shared Future”, which showcased the rich and fulfilling life of the volunteers to the audience.
 


The street dance “Burning Snowflakes” and a combination of Winter Olympics songs showed the youth and vitality of PKUers. After that, Zhu Jingchen and Zhang Yixuan performed an original kuaiban (a form of storytelling using bamboo clappers) entitled “Praise for the Winter Olympic Venues”. Hu Qingyu, a volunteer at Big Air Shougang, also welcomed the Chinese New Year by drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese culture, singing an excerpt from the Peking opera “The New Drunken Beauty”.
 


PKU volunteers from different locations brought the talk show “From Yanyuan to Beijing Olympic Village”. With confidence and joy, they showed their love for the Olympics and dreams of volunteering that had crossed several generations.
 


A variety of wonderful shows followed, including solo, chorus, sign language songs, singing with guitar, etc. There were also interactive raffle sessions interspersed during the gala, sending the joy of New Year to every PKUer.
 

 


Finally, with a surprising blessing video from teachers and parents, the Spring Festival Gala for PKU 2022 Winter Olympic Volunteers drew to a successful close.
 


Since January 20, 630 volunteers of Peking University have been working at different venues. The Chinese New Year is a traditional festival of reunion with family and friends, while for PKU Winter Olympic volunteers, it is a great year to reunite with people from all over the world. The "new generation on ice" will continue to show their vitality youth, dedicate themselves to the Winter Olympics, and cheer for China and the world.
