PKU Ph.D. Graduate Long Feng selected as NASA Sagan Fellow

Peking University, April 7, 2022: On March 25, NASA announced the list of 24 young scientists selected for its prestigious NASA Hubble Fellowship Program (NHFP) this year. 11 of them have been selected as Hubble Fellow, 7 as Einstein Fellow and 6 as Sagan Fellow. Long Feng, a 2019 Ph.D. graduate of PKU Department of Astronomy, School of Physics was selected as Sagan Fellow.
Long Feng
Long Feng received her bachelor’s degree at the Department of Astronomy, PKU School of Physics in 2013. Under the guidance of Professor Gregory Herczeg at PKU, she received her Ph.D. in 2019. Subsequently, she did her post-doctoral research as an SMA Fellow at Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. The formation and evolution of planets in protoplanetary disks have been Long Feng's research focus. As a Sagan Fellow, she will continue her research at the University of Arizona.
NASA Hubble Fellowship Program (NHFP) is highly competitive and one of the most prestigious programs for outstanding postdoctoral scientists in astrophysics. It enables Fellows to pursue independent research in a university or research center of their choosing in the United States. Xu Siyao, a 2017 Ph.D. graduate in astronomy at PKU was selected twice in 2017 and 2020. Wang Feige, another 2017 Ph.D. graduate was also selected for the program in 2019. Other than them, only 4 Ph.D. graduates from East and South Asia universities have been selected since NHFP’s establishment in 1990.
