Peking University, December 1, 2022: The grand forum on education that marked the 110th anniversary of the PKU Medicine was held recently in Beijing. The hybrid event aimed at promoting innovation and quality development in medical education and attracted over 400 thousand people in the audience. The participants included officials from the Ministry of Education and the National Health Commission, as well as faculty members, staff and students from Peking University and universities around the country.
At the outset of the forum, PKU President Gong Qihuang addressed the audience. His welcome remarks were followed by keynote speeches by Lin Huiqing, chair of the Expert Committee of Medical Education, vice president of China Association of Higher Education and former vice minister of Education, Academician Wang Chen of Peking Union Medical College, and Academician Fan Xianqun of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.
In her presentation at the forum, President Qiao Jie of Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC) reviewed the mission, system, models, reform, and enablers of PKU Medicine in producing outstanding and innovative health workers for the nation over the last 110 years. She shared her vision of PKU Medicine as a reformer, a thinktank and a leader in medical education in China.
After the morning session, the forum continued with sessions on undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education respectively.
