He Guannan is a PKU Boya Young Fellow and a researcher with the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Analysis and Applications, and a joint appointment with the Institute of Carbon Neutrality. His main research interests lie in the optimization and analysis of low-carbon energy systems.

His team proposed analytical and optimization methodologies for transitions in multi-scale electrochemical energy systems based on data-mechanism fusion. They also developed a series of intelligent decision-making tools and discovered their applications in analysing uncertainty and risk management of low-carbon energy systems.

Additionally, He leads a Key Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and has authored or co-authored 30 articles in top journals, including Nature Energy, Nature Communications, Joule, and Energy & Environmental Science. His previous accolades include a gold medal in the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva as well as being recognised as a MIT Energy Fellow.

About the award

IISE, established in 1948, is a globally recognized organization dedicated to the support of the industrial and systems engineering profession.
