Peking University, June 11, 2024: Recently, Qiao Jie, executive vice president of Peking University and president of Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC), led a delegation to Hong Kong.

At the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), Dean Professor Liu Zexing, Vice Dean Professor Xie Weicai, Vice Dean Professor Liang Jiajie, Vice Dean Professor Kong Fanyi, and Vice Dean Dr. Huang Yinger warmly welcomed the PKUHSC delegation. 

During a meeting with representatives from HKU, Qiao Jie expressed her hope that both institutions will persist in enhancing medical talent development and collaborating on scientific research, highlighting that the two institutions will work together on tasks such as achieving significant scientific breakthroughs, recruiting scientific researchers, and training postgraduate students.


At the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Qiao Jie met with Professor Zheng Guangting and Professor Wang Yang, vice presidents of HKUST, and Professor Xie Ting, director of the Department of Life Sciences. 

During the meeting, both sides agreed that the two schools should prioritize cooperation in nurturing young scientific and technological talents and fostering innovation. In the future, the institutions will offer increased opportunities for young individuals to engage in scientific and technological projects, aiming to develop them into skilled and influential scientists.

During the meeting with Lin Zhexuan, a member of the Healthcare Sector of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Legislative Council, Qiao thanked Lin for his strong support in setting up the "Hong Kong-Mainland Medical Student Integration Project." This project will play a crucial role in encouraging exchanges between medical students from HKSAR and the Chinese mainland.


During the visit, Qiao Jie and the PKUHSC delegation also held an exchange symposium with alumni representatives in Hong Kong.
