PKU students win China’s First Prize and World’s Third Prize at 2024 MGC
Oct 27, 2024
Peking University, October 27, 2024: The NeuroVisionaries, a student team from Peking University (PKU), achieved notable success at the 2024 Medical Grand Challenge (MGC) finals, winning the championship title for the China division and securing third place worldwide in the Nascent Category.

Competing against nearly 60 teams from around the globe, the NeuroVisionaries impressed judges with their innovative “AI-based wearable multi-modal eye-cranial pressure monitoring and control system.”

Designed to support patients suffering from chronic low intracranial pressure, this advanced wearable system offers a portable, user-friendly tool that enables individuals to monitor and manage their condition autonomously. By integrating AI and multi-modal technology, the device introduces a new physical control method for intracranial pressure, aiming to simplify treatment and improve patients’ quality of life.

The NeuroVisionaries’ success comes after three rounds of online evaluation and two rounds of in-person debates. Their achievement highlights the growing role of AI and wearable technology in personalized healthcare.

The MGC is a student-led medical innovation program organized by the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. It aims to encourage medical students to identify unmet healthcare needs, form interdisciplinary teams (of two to eight people) with students from other faculties, and explore creative and out-of-the-box solutions to address these issues.
