Peking University, January 21, 2025: A delegation from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) visited Peking University Third Hospital (PUTH) lately. Comprising five representatives including Professor Wing-tak Wong, Deputy President and Provost of PolyU, Professor Hau-chung Man, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Professor Ming Zhang, Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the delegation was received by Professor Wei Fu, President of PUTH. The visit set the stage for a symposium where discussions on collaboration took place between the two universities, focusing on the establishment of joint laboratory, project application, talent cultivation, medicine-engineering integration, with a view to advancing interdisciplinary innovation and development.

The two sides dived into an in-depth exchange of ideas on the specific directions, modes and mechanisms for the interdisciplinary collaboration between medicine and engineering. A preliminary consensus was reached about jointly building an innovative research laboratory designed to apply a medical-engineering integrated approach to the early diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment of tumors.
The visit concluded as a beacon of further strengthening communication and connection for both sides, showing the way towards more fruitful results of the collaborative efforts in medicine and engineering.
