The symposium gathered nearly 20 experts and scholars from China, the United Kingdom, France, as well as ASEAN countries—including Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, and the Philippines—who engaged in in-depth discussions on innovations in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) technology, the development of intelligent emergency medicine, and emerging trends in international collaboration.
At the opening ceremony, Sun Qiudan, Director of the Office of International Relations, Peking University Health Science Center, emphasized Peking University’s commitment to strengthening international medical cooperation and fostering interdisciplinary integration. She expressed the hope that China’s thoughts could help the enhancement of global emergency care systems.
Ma Qingbian, Vice President of Peking University Third Hospital, underscored the critical importance of innovation in resuscitation and emergency medicine within modern healthcare and highlighted the indispensable role of emergency medicine in the management of acute and critical conditions.
Participants shared the latest research findings and practical experiences in areas such as randomized controlled trials in emergency medicine, CPR technology innovations, acute critical-care strategies, and the construction of emergency medicine information systems.
Cutting-edge topics—including novel CPR devices, advanced brain resuscitation strategies, and the application of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in emergency care—drew widespread attention and sparked vibrant discussion. These innovations are poised to improve survival rates and prognoses for critically ill patients, offering new hope for the advancement of emergency medicine.
Throughout the academic exchange sessions, attendees engaged in active dialogue, exploring the challenges and opportunities facing the discipline today.
The symposium provided a high-level academic platform for experts and scholars in resuscitation and emergency medicine—both domestic and international—fostering the exchange of ideas and the sharing of innovation.
The success of this international symposium further demonstrates Peking University’s academic influence in emergency medicine and marks another step toward establishing the field as a world-class discipline.
