Peking University, May 21, 2026: On May 11, the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE) announced its newly elected Fellows. Huang Guoliang, Xinao Chair Professor at the College of Engineering, Peking University, was elected as a CAE Fellow for his outstanding contributions to engineering research and innovation.
Professor Huang Guoliang
Professor Huang Guoliang specializes in mechanical metamaterials and structural dynamics. His work has advanced low-frequency vibration damping, broadband noise reduction, and smart active metamaterials, while also supporting practical engineering applications through industry collaboration. Huang is also a dedicated mentor whose students now hold positions in academia and the private sector.
Professor Huang has published more than 200 journal papers in leading international publications, including Nature Reviews Materials, Nature Communications, PNAS, Advanced Materials, Physical Review Letters, and Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids. His work has received over 17,000 Google Scholar citations, with an h-index of 72. He has also been recognized among Stanford University's world's top 2% scientists and named an Elsevier Highly Cited Researcher.
Founded in 1987, the Canadian Academy of Engineering is one of Canada's leading engineering organizations. Election as a CAE Fellow is a prestigious honour bestowed on behalf of the Canadian federal government to scientists and professors for their outstanding contributions to engineering research, innovation, and professional practice.
