At the welcome ceremony, Professor Gao Song first remarked that Peking University always attaches importance to animal research by establishing the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and investing in relevant researches. In 2007, Institute of Molecular Medicine (IMM) and the Laboratory Animal Research Center jointly applied and earned the AAALA accreditation, which shows the intensive focus on animal welfare and biosafety. In 2010 and 2013, Peking University qualified two more triennial reevaluation consecutively, which forwards its animal research and management into world-class level.

Li Li, Vice Chairman of Beijing Animal Research Management Office, and Professor Wu Hong, Dean of the School of Life Sciences, delivered speeches respectively on behalf of the local administrative department and the executive department. Dr. Yasmina Paramastri, leader of the evaluators, introduced the indexes of evaluation on behalf of AAALAC council. After the welcome ceremony, the evaluating panel examined the equipment and files, and offered advice to which PKU Laboratory Animal Research Center made desirable adjustment in time.

In 2018, the AAALAC council voted on the reevaluation. The result showed that Peking University earned another full accreditation which would be valid for three years.
