Peking University, June 11, 2012: PKU Professor Richard de Grijs has been formally appointed by the Publications Board and Council of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) as Deputy Editor of the Astrophysical Journal Letters.
The Astrophysical Journal is the flagship professional journal of the AAS, as well as the highest-impact scholarly journal in the field of astrophysics internationally. First published in 1895, it has a history of 117 years. The journal is a branch of the Astrophysical Journal, mainly used for publishing real-time study findings.
Richard de Grijs, as a Dutch nationality, is professor and associate director of the Kavli Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics at Peking University (PKU). Following six years as scientific editor of the Astrophysical Journal, Professor de Grijs will commence his appointment in this senior role on 1 January 2013, when the journal's current editorial team will be replaced in full. He will serve for an initial term of five years, in association with the journal's new editor, Professor Frederic A. Rasio, Joseph Cummings at Northwestern University (USA).
