Peking University, Dec. 22, 2012: The summer of 2013 will be the graduation season for Jiang Zixi from Guanghua School of Management (GSM), but the Ph.D. candidate in marketing has not made her mind yet about where to go in the future. When facing the teaching positions offered from three top universities - Oklahoma State University, the University of New South Wales, and the University of Technology, Sydney - she is still hesitating.

Instead of extending her study in China Foreign Affairs University for a master’s degree, Jiang came to GSM in 2007 to continue her academic road. Here, she has performed remarkably ever since, with two papers published in the toppest Journal of Consumer Research (JCR) and Journal of Marketing Research (JMR), which illuminated her name in the global marketing research circles.
“I am really grateful to GSM, and my tutor, Professor Xu Jing,” Jiang attributed her success to them.
Xu has guided the girl according to her unique talent, providing her with abundant academic resources. Before Jiang’s overseas study visit in 2011, Xu introduced her to Professor Ravi Dhar at Yale University, who then helped her finish the exchange program. “I have learned a lot from Professor Ravi Dhar, and we wrote the JMR article together. He was also the Co-Chair of my doctoral thesis,” said Jiang.
Apart from Xu’s guidance, GSM also helped to broaden Jiang Zixing’s vision and academic space. “As one of the best business schools in China, it enabled her to get in touch with the world’s greatest scholars and researches,” Xu said. Jiang’s essay published on JCR was completed with the guidance of Professor Zhang Ying, a renowned expert in marketing.
Besides, GSM funds students for their future pursuits. In April 2012, a conference of American Marketing Association was held in the United States, as an important platform for students like Jiang Zixing to get a job abroad. “She was longing for this opportunity and sent an application, so we decided to provide funds,” recalled Professor Xu.
Finally, Jiang Zixing lived up to the School’s expectations, with the harvest of six campus visit invitations and three teaching offers.
