Professor Huang Tiejun becomes the first dean of Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence

Peking University, November 18, 2018: On November 14, 2018, China（Beijing）International Technology Transfer convention opened. Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence (BAAI) was established under the witness of Wang Zhigang, minister of Ministry of Science and Technology, and Chen Jining, mayor of Beijing. Xu Qiang, director of Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, and others attended the unveiling ceremony of the academy together. Professor Huang Tiejun, dean of Department of Computer Science and Technology, School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, Peking University served as the first dean of the academy.
BAAI is another new research and development institution established in Beijing, after CIBR(Chinese Institute for Brain Research) and BAQIS (Beijing Academy of Quantum Information Science). All of them are under direction and support of Beijing city government and Haidian district government. BAAI is committed to the basic research of artificial intelligence, the promotion of original innovation, and the gathering of high-end talents to support Beijing to become the world's leading artificial intelligence innovation center.
