Peking University, Beijing, Mar. 26, 2010:  Recently, Prof. He Chuan of the University of Chicago, who is also the Chair Professor of College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering of Peking University, won the Early Career Award of the Society of Biological Inorganic Chemistry. This award was set in 2007 and has been awarded annually to an early career scientist who has already accomplished distinguished research in biological inorganic chemistry. Prof. He Chuan is the forth scientist to win this award. He will attend the 15th International Conference on Biological Inorganic Chemistry (ICBIC15) and present award lectures.

Prof. He Chuan was born in Guizhou at 1972. In 1994, he graduated from University of Science and Technology of China, and finished his Ph.D. at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2000. Then, he worked at Harvard University for two years as postdoctoral fellow. Since 2002, he has been in the University of Chicago as an associate professor.

His research interests include a broad range of chemistry, chemical biology, microbiology, bioinorganic chemistry, cell biology, and structural biology, such as DNA/RNA repair and modification, virulence and antibiotic resistance regulation in human pathogens, s elective metal ion recognition by proteins, and metal-catalyzed organic transformations.
