“Research Methodology in Oriental Studies” launched

Peking University, April 9th, 2012: The launching ceremony of Research Methodology in Oriental Studies was held in Room 103, Administrative Building of Peking University (PKU), on the morning of April 9th. Present were American born Chinese, Mr. Shieng-Chang Tseng, Mrs. Su-Hwa Tseng, their daughter Chin-Yin Tseng, together with Ms. Xiao Rong, General Supervisor in China of American Give2Asia program, Ms. Jiang Yi, Program Manager, Mr. Li Yansong, Vice President of PKU, as well as other members concerned.  

 
Mr. Li Yansong expressed warm welcome to the directors of Chinese Program, expressing gratitude for their generous donation and lasting support. Li said, as the founder of Xiaolong Foundation, Mr. Tseng has been dedicated to education support and exerting concerns and confidence to the development of PKU. With rich education tradition and abundant research resources, oriental studies have gained reputation at home and abroad, and this launching ceremony displayed the insights of the donors.

 
Later, Xiao Rong, Director of China’s Give2Asia project, briefly introduced the development of Give2Asia in China. On behalf of the project, she expressed gratitude for PKU, PKU School of Foreign Languages and PKU Education Foundation for their support and cooperation. She said that she hoped the “Research Methodology in Oriental Studies” project could develop steadily and gain achievements in the future.

  

Vice President Li Yansong awarded Shieng-Chang Tseng and Su-Hwa Tseng

PKU Education Contribution Award

 

Standing for PKU, Vice President Li Yansong awarded Shieng-Chang Tseng and Su-Hwa Tseng PKU Education Contribution Award. Doctor Shieng-Chang Tseng hoped that, through this project, PKU could strengthen the researches of oriental studies and become the academic center of World Oriental Studies. While showing thanks to other people’s support, Doctor Shieng-Chang Tseng expressed his willingness to provide long-term support for the project.

 
At the end of the ceremony, Professor Liu Shuxiong, director of the project, introduced its  detailed conditions. He said that the project members understood their responsibilities and would make contributions in the field of oriental studies to requite patrons’ trust.
