INSE Dean Justin Yifu Lin meets Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif

Peking University, June 17, 2024: Recently, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and senior government officials from Pakistan visited the Institute of New Structural Economics (INSE) at Peking University, where they had discussions with Prof. Justin Yifu Lin, the dean of the Institute.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid an official visit to China from June 4 to 8, 2024, marking his first trip to the country since the formation of Pakistan's new government earlier this year.

At the Institute, both parties extensively discussed Pakistan's economic development and transformation, expressing optimism for long-term and comprehensive cooperation, and anticipating collaboration between China and Pakistan.

The Signing Ceremony

Following the discussions, INSE's Department of International Development Cooperation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Board of Investment of Pakistan on leveraging special economic zones to seize the opportunity for Pakistan's structural transformation.
 
The memorandum aims to enhance cooperation between China and Pakistan in formulating policies and coordinating special economic zones.

Both sides will use current bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms to progress the building of the "China-Pakistan Economic Corridor." The signing of this memorandum shows the determination and confidence of both parties in further deepening their cooperation.
