Peking University, April 23, 2025: Professor William Colledge, Head of Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience, University of Cambridge, visited Peking University Health Science Center together with Dr. Sue Jones in late March. This trip served to further cooperation between the two universities in the fields of neuroscience and reproductive medicine.

Welcomed by Qiao Jie, Executive Vice President of PKU and President of PKUHSC, Professor Colledge and Dr. Jones visited PKU School of Basic Medical Sciences and delivered reports on “Key roles of Kisspeptin in reproductive health” and “Mechanisms of neuroplasticity in brain development” respectively.

A symposium titled “Dialogue with Cambridge Elite Minds: Navigating Academic Journeys and Frontiers” was held as the second phase of the international vision enhancement program. 15 students had face-to-face exchanges with the two professors. Everyone engaged in lively discussions on issues such as the choice of research paths and cultural adaptation.

Professor Colledge also met with Huang Zhuo, Vice Dean of PKU School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The two sides explored potential collaboration in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.

In a training session co-hosted with National Center for Clinical Research on Gynecological and Obstetric Diseases, Professor Colledge revealed the core role of Kisspeptin protein in reproductive regulation and Dr. Jones expounded the mechanism of Kisspeptin neurons as “molecular switches” in puberty.

Professor Colledge and Dr. Jones then visited the Reproductive Center of PKU Third Hospital, where they made introductions of laboratories at University of Cambridge, building a communication bridge for further cooperation.
