Peking University, November 24, 2025:  Lars Klingbeil, Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister of Finance of Germany, led a delegation to visit Peking University on November 18 in an effort to promote stronger student exchanges and academic cooperation between China and Germany. He Guangcai, Chair of the Peking University (PKU) Council, met with the guests at the Yingjie Overseas Exchange Center. 

He Guangcai warmly welcomed Mr.Klingbeil and his delegation, noting the strong bilateral relations between China and Germany over the past 5 decades. Highlighting Germany’s longstanding emphasis on education, youth engagement, and cultural exchange, he expressed hope that Peking University and German institutions would broaden collaboration among faculty, students, and academic research.



Mr. Klingbeil expressed appreciation for PKU’s hospitality and commended PKU’s rich heritage and beautiful campus. He emphasized the need for continued communication between China and Germany to address global challenges. Stressing that young people hold the future of both nations, he voiced hope for deeper educational exchanges between the two countries.



During the exchange session, Mr.Klingbeil lauded China’s achievements in economic development and environmental protection. He engaged in discussions with students, faculty and staff on topics such as green industrial transformation, AI governance, economic globalization, climate change, and cultural exchange.



This event served to strengthen cooperation between China and Germany and provide more opportunities for direct interactions.

The event was also attended by Jeanette Schwamberger, the German State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Finance; Patricia Flor, the German Ambassador to China; Yang Jianmin, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Economic Relations, Ministry of Finance; and Fang Fang, Vice President of PKU.
