Belgian Ambassador Bruno Angelet Discusses Strengthening Educational Ties at Peking University

Peking University, December 2 2025: On November 28th, Bruno Angelet, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to China, led a delegation on a visit to Peking University (PKU). PKU President Gong Qihuang received the guests at Linhu Xuan, accompanied by Vice President Fang Fang. 

Gong Qihuang welcomed Ambassador Angelet and his delegation and introduced the latest developments at Peking University. He noted that the university has long maintained a strong partnership with Belgian institutions, particularly in joint doctoral programs, the humanities and social sciences, and education research. 

He added that Peking University welcomes more Belgian students and looks forward to further deepening cooperation with Belgian universities and research institutes, building on existing ties to elevate China–Belgium higher education exchanges.

Ambassador Angelet thanked Peking University for the warm reception. He stressed Belgium’s high regard for its cooperation with Chinese universities and emphasized that youth exchanges are key to enhancing mutual understanding and strengthening people-to-people ties between Europe and China. 

He observed that European students now have increasingly diverse ways to learn about China, and expressed hope to work closely with Peking University to create more opportunities for Belgian students to study and experience China, further advancing bilateral educational cooperation.

Following the meeting, Ambassador Angelet held an interactive seminar with faculty and students of the Yenching Academy. Leaders from relevant schools, departments, and functional offices of Peking University also attended the meeting.
