The congress, co-chaired by Qu Li-Jia and CAS Academician Yang Weicai, drew over 450 scientists from 23 countries, including more than 130 international delegates. In his acceptance speech, Qu outlined his vision to foster global exchange, nurture young talent, and deepen research collaboration. He also emphasized the critical need to bridge basic research in plant reproduction with practical applications in crop breeding and sustainable agriculture.

Plant sexual reproduction underpins crop yields and quality, making it an essential factor in food security. In recent years, Chinese scientists such as Qu Li-Jia and Yang Weicai have made internationally recognized breakthroughs in this field, highlighting their growing global influence. And Qu's election has added to the recognition. Looking ahead, Chinese researchers aim to leverage platforms like IASPRR to further deepen international cooperation and contribute to cutting-edge research in plant reproductive biology, thereby helping strengthen global food security.
