Dean Xie Xincheng introduces PKU School of Physics at the meeting.
"PKU School of Physics is going to celebrate its centennial in 2013, which is a very important opportunity to reflect back on the development of physics in China," said Xie, inviting PKU alumni to the related activities.
Xie also mentioned the school's progress in establishing open research platforms and recruiting high-level researchers. According to him, the new institute established (jointly with Tsinghua University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences) for quantum material science has ranked among the optimum footholds in China for top physicists.
The reception provided face-to-face opportunities for potential applicants. Later during the annual meeting, PKU School of Physics interviewed those who had passed the first round of matriculation.
The APS Annual Meeting, an academic gala of the global physics community, attracts thousands of top researchers worldwide every year. This March, over 112 invited sessions were launched at Baltimore Convention Center, with over 8,500 involved.
