Professor Deng Hongkui joins Cell's editorial board

Peking University, Nov. 28, 2013: Chinese scientists for the first time were elected as the editors for magazine Cell: Professor Deng Hongkui from PKU and Professor Cao Xuetao from Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.

Cell, founded in 1974, is widely recognized as the top-notch magazine in the academia of Life Sciences. All of its editors are first-class scientists and academic leaders.

Deng Hongkui is a renowned cell biologist. In 1995, he got the Ph.D degree at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). After that, he did postdoctoral research at New York University (NYU). After returning to China in April 2001, Professor Deng established Cell Differentiation and Cell Engineering Laboratory at School of Life Sciences, PKU and worked on cell differentiation, stem cell biology and regenerative medicine research. Professor Deng has published many essays on Cell, Nature and Science magazines.

Cao Xuetao is a famous immunologist. He was elected as the academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2005 and the academician of German National Academy of Sciences. He is now the director for State Key Laboratory of Medical Immunology, dean of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, chairman of Chinese Society for Immunology (CSI), chairman of Federation of Immunological Societies of Asia-Oceania and chairman-elect of Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases (GACD). He has made great achievements in the fields of natural immunity, immune regulation, and immunotherapy. He published over 210 essays as the corresponding author on SCI magazines like Cell, Cancer Cell and Nature Immunology.
