Peking University and Moscow State University online meeting takes place

Peking University, December 13, 2021: On December 2, 2021, an online meeting between Peking University and
Moscow State University was held, during which Hao Ping, president of
Peking University and Sadovnichy Victor Antonovich, rector of Moscow
State University had in-depth discussions on bilateral cooperation
between the two nations.

President Hao Ping expressed that though COVID-19 brought severe
challenges to international cooperation, Peking University and Moscow
State University have established stronger ties in the areas of basic
research, major projects, cultural exchanges and personnel training. He
hopes that the brotherly friendship between the two universities can
withstand the test of time and become even stronger.
Sadovnichy noted that in the last 30-year or so, the friendship between
Moscow State University and Peking University has been demonstrated by
nearly 100 cooperative agreements, particularly the Sino-Russian
Mathematics Center, which represented the deepening exchanges between
the two universities and the strong support from two countries.
Sadovnichy is certain that the comprehensive strategic partnership
between Russia and China would continue to merit future cooperation.

In the following discussion, education cooperation and joint research
were explored in depth as significant aspects of strategic cooperation
between two sides. Important projects demonstrating these aspects
include the Sino-Russian Mathematics Center, national management and
social transformation cooperation project, joint program on earth and
ecology, construction of the Confucius Institute, PKU’s “Global
Classroom” partner program, and Russia’s “Three University Missions”. It
is certain that they will pave the road for future strategic
partnerships.
The meeting was also attended by Wang Bo, vice president of Peking
University, Zhang Jiping, director of Sino-Russian Mathematics Center,
Ning Qi, dean of PKU’s School of Foreign Languages, Xia Hongwei,
director of PKU’s Office of International Relations and Ma Zeyi, vice
president of Moscow State University.
