[Beijing 2022 Olympics] Eight Hospitals of Peking University get ready for Beijing Winter Olympics

Peking University, February 1, 2022: Eight hospitals of Peking University will provide all-round medical support for the three competition zones of 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games. After multiple rounds of preparation, they are well prepared for the start of the Games.
Peking University First Hospital has set up a team consisting of 68 medical staff from Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Cardiology, Department of Nephrology and many other relevant departments for the Winter Olympics medical security service. The team has been involved in various aspects, ranging from simulation to providing coverage for the Short Track Speed Skating World Cup.

Peking University People’s Hospital is in charge of medical security service for figure skating and short track speed skating participants. At the same time, People’s Hospital is also in charge of medical security service for luge, bobsleigh and skeleton events which will be held in the National Sliding Center in Yanqing Olympic Zone. The medical staff includes a total of 180 people from 36 departments. The work of People’s Hospital has been highly recognized by Chair of the Medical Committee of the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF) Dr. Christian Schneider and international medical officer Dr. Eugene Byrne. .

Peking University Third Hospital is the only hospital that can provide medical security service for all three competition zones in Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou at the same time. Cooperating with 8 other medical institutions, Peking University Third Hospital will also undertake the comprehensive clinic guarantee task for Yanqing Olympic Village.

Peking University Hospital of Stomatology will take on the tasks of oral and maxillofacial trauma treatment during Winter Olympics as well as oral medical treatment in the Olympic Village.

As the national clinical medical research center for mental and psychological diseases, Peking University Sixth Hospital has been working on mental health personnel training, Internet platform development and clinical services for Winter Olympics. Peking University Sixth Hospital has committed to the intelligent evaluation, prediction and multi-level individualized intervention on the common sleep and psychological problems of athletes, which will help improve the mental health of athletes.

Peking University Shougang Hospital works as one of the venue medical guarantee hospitals. Their main work includes Olympic venue medical care, emergency transfer and epidemic prevention. More than 37 medical professionals from 16 departments are involved in the guarantee team.

During Beijing Winter Olympics, Peking University International Hospital will be in charge of the medical care of the figure skating and short track speed skating two training venues in Capital Indoor Stadium. They have organized a medical security team consisting of 24 doctors and 22 nurses to support the Winter Olympics.

In addition to the above-mentioned hospitals and teams, two anesthesiologists from Peking University Cancer Hospital will join the first aid work of athletes at National Alpine Skiing Center.
