PKU Alumnus Liu Qingmin appointed as co-editor of the American Economic Review

Peking University, May 11, 2023: Peking University School of Economics alumnus Liu Qingmin has been appointed as co-editor of the American Economic Review (AER), one of the most esteemed economic journals.

In a statement released on Peking University’s 125th anniversary, May 4, 2023, Chief Editor of the American Economic Review Erzo F.P. Luttmer congratulated Liu Qingmin on his appointment as co-editor of the journal, beginning in July 2023.
 
Established in 1911, the American Economic Review is among the oldest and most respected scholarly journals in economics, publishing 12 issues containing articles on a broad range of topics. Liu’s appointment marks the first time in history that a Chinese scholar will be co-editing for one of the world’s top five economic journals.

Liu Qingmin graduated from Peking University School of Economics in 2002

Liu Qingmin graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the Department of Risk Management and Insurance at PKU School of Economics in 2002 and subsequently obtained his Doctorate Degree from Stanford Business School in 2007. He is currently a professor at the Department of Economics at Columbia University and has made significant contributions to the fields of microeconomic theory, game theory, and mechanism design.

This year also marks the 30th anniversary of Peking University School of Economics Department of Risk Management and Insurance. Since its inception, the department has produced over 1200 students, including Liu Qingmin. He believes that the department will continue to make significant contributions to both practical and theoretical research.
