Senior executives of Microsoft visit PKUHSC

Peking University, November 24, 2023: A delegation of senior executives from Microsoft recently visited Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC) to talk about the application of technologies, including big data and generative AI, on public health with teachers and students. 

The Microsoft delegation consisted of Peter Lee, corporate vice president of research and incubations, Lidong Zhou, corporate vice president and managing director of Microsoft Research Asia, Ashley Llorens, vice president and managing director at Microsoft Research Outreach, and Lili Qiu, assistant managing director of Microsoft Research Asia.

In her meeting with the executives, Academician Qiao Jie, executive vice president of PKU and president of PKUHSC, pointed out that she was willing to see Microsoft, with enhanced mutual understanding through this visit, work more closely with PKUHSC in research and education.

Peter Lee extended his gratitude towards PKUHSC for its cordial reception and seconded President Qiao’s call for close cooperation between the two sides. In his speech, Lee also introduced Microsoft Research Asia’s progress in the field of AI and public health and looked forward to enhanced cooperation and academic exchanges between Microsoft and PKUHSC.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the National Institute of Health Data Science at Peking University, where Peter Lee gave a speech titled “The Emergence of Generative AI for Healthcare and Medicine.”
