Academician Zhuang Hui awarded APASL Okuda-Omata Distinguished Award

Zhuang Hui 

Peking University, April 3, 2024: Academician Zhuang Hui from Peking University School of Basic Medical Sciences was awarded the Okuda-Omata Distinguished Award by the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL) on March 28, 2024. 

The 33rd APASL awards ceremony was held at the Kyoto International Conference Center in Japan. Professor Shuichiro Shiina, the chair of APASL 2024, and Professor Wei Lai, the chair of APASL 2025, presided over the award ceremony and presented the awardees with medals of honor. Zhuang Hui, who is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), was awarded the Okuda-Omata Distinguished Award, making him the fourth recipient of this award.

APASL is one of the world's leading associations dedicated to liver disease research and treatment. The APASL conference is the most influential academic event in the field of hepatology in the Asia-Pacific region. As the highest honor awarded by APASL, the Okuda-Omata Distinguished Award aims to recognise individuals who have made outstanding scientific contributions in the field of hepatology and demonstrated outstanding social service and leadership abilities. 

Zhuang Hui is one of the founders and lifelong honorary chairpersons of the Hepatology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. Committed to scientific research on the prevention and treatment of liver diseases, Zhuang has made outstanding contributions towards the prevention and control of viral hepatitis in China.
