Peking University, October 13, 2024: More than 500 rehabilitation experts from over 70 countries convened at the World Congress on Rehabilitation (WCR) 2024, in a joint effort to advance rehabilitation on a global scale. Physicians and professors from Peking University Third Hospital (PKUTH) attended the Congress and delivered keynote addresses.

From September 23 to 25, 2024, the World Congress on Rehabilitation 2024 was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, marking the first time that the congress was held in the Middle East region. Cui Guoqing, Zhou Mouwang and Yang Yanyan from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of PKUTH delivered keynote addresses surrounding WCR’s cause to address global challenges faced by people of determination--a term adopted by the UAE to describe people with intellectual or physical disabilities—in integrating into the labor market.

At the congress, Professor Cui Guoqing introduced the latest research on special examinations of the shoulder joint. Professor Zhou Mouwang shared the progress and experience of quality control work in Chinese rehabilitation medicine. Associate Chief Physician Yang Yanyan presented the relevant work of rehabilitation physician training in various talent fostering programs by the Chinese government. Their speeches reaped attention and recognition from fellow participating experts.

WCR 2024 aims to tackle issues related to the marginalization of people of determination, deprivation of their workplace rights, and the imperative need to provide training and development programs.
