Oct 19, 2026
Peking University, October 19, 2026: The 2026 Peking University Forum on Innovation and High-Quality Development in Nursing Education was held on October 10-11 at the Yingjie Overseas Exchange Center at Peking University. Organized by the School of Nursing at Peking University and co-hosted by the Virtual Teaching and Research Office for Nursing under the Ministry of Education, the forum brought together more than 400 representatives from over 60 institutions. These experts from China and abroad jointly explored new paradigms and drivers for the practical improvements in nursing education.

With the theme "Innovation, Integration, and Excellence—The Substantive Development and Quality Enhancement of Nursing Education in the New Era," the main forum delved deeply into key issues related to the high-quality development of nursing education. The issues covered areas such as talent cultivation, faculty development, innovation in nursing education, international exchanges and educational governance. The eight parallel sessions closely aligned with the requirements for nursing talent development in the new era. The discussions featured the following topics: faculty development and student growth; quality assurance in medical education; reforms in graduate education and teaching; innovations in smart teaching and transformations in teaching and research paradigms; cultivation of core competencies in medical students; development of clinical teaching practice bases; training of specialized nursing professionals; and establishment of virtual teaching and research rooms and educational communities.

From educational philosophies to teaching practices, and from international experiences to local explorations, the forum focused on the substantive development and quality enhancement of nursing education. It aimed to encourage nursing educators to strengthen communication and learn from one another, thereby pooling experiences and ideas to continuously improve talent development models and enhance the quality of nursing education.

The School of Nursing at Peking University looks forward to working with colleagues from both home and abroad to jointly explore pathways for nursing education that align with national needs, reflect the unique characteristics of the nursing discipline, and respond to societal demands.
