Peking University, Beijing, Apr. 21, 2010: On the morning of April 19th, a delegation of Russian Corporation of Nanotechnologies (RUSNANO) executive members, led by CEO Dr Anatoly Chubais, visited PKU accompanied by Sun Jian and Zhou Yu, Directors of Euro-Asia Section in the International Cooperation Division of Ministry of Science & Technology, and Kanshin, Science and Technology attaché of Russian Embassy. The objective of their tour is to get to know the research and industrial development in the related fields of nanotechnologies in PKU, search for a mutually beneficial cooperation model, and establish further international cooperative relationship with Peking University.
Prof. Zhu and Mr. Chubais Exchanging Gifts
The reception activity was held by Prof. Zhu Xing, Assistant Principal of Peking University. Prof. Zhu Xing first introduced to the visitors the current situation of Peking University, and then reviewed the long-term cooperative relationship between Russia and Peking University. He highlighted the development of Peking University in nanotechnologies, in hope of establishing partnership with RusNano and seeking for potential in further cooperation between the two sides.
Mr. Chubais sincerely thanked Prof. Zhu for his hospitality and went on with an overview of RusNano. RusNano is a state-owned institution, funded by the Russian Government with 10 million US dollars. It invests in promising start-up companies and projects with good potential development. Its interests in nanotechnology include optical instruments, light-emitting diodes, micro-electronic technology, and solar batteries, etc.
Then, the delegation listened to the introductory reports of College of Engineering and Institute of Molecular Medicine given by Prof. Chen Shiyi, Dean of College of Engineering and Prof. Xiao Ruiping, head of the Institute of Molecular Medicine (IMM) respectively and had discussions. Later, the delegation visited the Nonhuman Primate Research Center, IMM.
The delegation also paid a visit to Founder Group. Mr. Feng Qiping, senior vice-president of the Founder Group, Mr. Li Guojun, vice-president of the Founder Group, Mr. Qian Xinguo, Assistant Executive of the Founder Group and Mrs. Wei Yaou, general manager of the Department of Grand Mangement received the guests. An introduction of Founder's business management and international strategy was given to the delegation. The two sides then had in-depth discussions over the issues of common interest.
After the meeting, Prof Zhu Xing dined the delegation. The participants of the reception are: Prof. Gu Xiaocheng from the School of Life Sciences, Zhang Yan, Deputy Director of the Overseas Projects Division, Yang Lingchun from the Office of Scientific Research, and Li Yun from the Office of International Relations.

Established in 2007, the Russian Corporation of Nanotechnologies (RUSNANO) is a Russian government-owned non-commercial enterprise whose key directions are participating in the development of the innovative infrastructure for nanotechnologies, investing in nanotechnology industry products, and achievement of projects aimed at creating innovative nanotechnologies and nanoindustries. RusNano CEO Anatoly Borisovich Chubais once served as first deputy chairman of the Russian government. He has abundant experience in industrial management and governmental administration.
