Peking University, March 31, 2018: On March 26, the 2017 Mitsubishi Corporation International Scholarship Award Ceremony was held in the conference hall of Tan Siu Lin Center for International Studies. The ceremony was attended by Kawai Kosaku, Mitsubishi Corporation’s regional vice CEO in East Asia, Zhang Qingdong, director of the student affairs department at PKU, Hu Jun, the deputy secretary of China’s Education Foundation, and other officers from the corporation and the university. Ten students from PKU received the scholarship at the ceremony.
The ceremony began with a speech given by Zhang Qingdong, who reviewed the history of Mitsubishi Corporation’s scholarship to PKU and expressed profound gratitude for the corporation’s contribution to PKU’s construction and development. Zhang also briefed the audience on PKU’s progress in discipline construction and in talent cultivation over the past year. Having congratulated scholarship students, he encouraged all students to keep working hard and to strive towards their goals.
Kawai Kosaku also gave a speech at the ceremony. First, he gave a brief introduction on Mitsubishi Corporation’s business and its public welfare programs. Noting that 2018 marks the 40th anniversary of signing the Sino-Japanese Treaty for Peace and Friendship, Kawai Kosaku expressed his hope that students in both China and Japan would do their part to enhancing harmonious exchange and cooperation between the two countries, for a healthy development of Sino-Japanese relation relies on mutual understanding between teenagers in these two counties.
Duan Taoran, a senior student from the School of International Studies, also gave a speech on behalf of the scholarship-winning students, who together presented a well-prepared gift to Kawai Kosaku.
After the ceremony, all attendees took a group photo to mark the occasion.
