News & Events | About PKU News | Contact | Site Search Peking University, May. 23, 2012: The School History Photo Exhibition of Centennial Anniversary Celebration of School of Economics, Peking University (PKU) was on display at PKU library from May 21 to May 26. The opening ceremony was held on the morning of May 21. Present were Professor Liu Wei, Vice President of PKU and former Dean of School of Economics, Professor Sun Qixiang, current Dean of the school and 100 other students and faculties. ribbon-cutting ceremony Sun Qixiang gave a keynote speech on behalf of School of Economics, pointing out that the significance of this exhibition lay in the cultivation of a sense of pride, responsibility and mission among the new generation of economics. She hoped to see breakthrough and progress continuing to be made with the support of predecessors. Liu Wei in his speech spoke highly of the centennial history of the school and those who contributed throughout their lifetime to its development, such as Yan Fu, Li Dazhao, Ma Yanchu. Wang Shuguang, representative of faculty briefly introduced the preparation of the photo exhibition and the publishing of the book Centennial Photo History. Sun Qixiang Liu Wei Wang Shuguang As the earliest established department in the field of economics and the breeding base of the transmission of Marxist Economics and modern western economics, the history of School of Economics can be dated back to the business major of the Imperial University of Peking (the origin of PKU). The major of economics was founded by Yan Fu, former president of PKU in the year of 1912. This photo exhibition was based on many precious photos to exhibit the 100 years' development of School of Economics, and the journey of China's economics discipline. Through the vivid historic photos, the path of economics education in China unfolded, highlighted by features of revered scholars.
