Peking University, Oct. 9, 2018: On September 30, 2018, the ceremony for the 3rd Beijing Overseas Chinese “Jinghua Award” was held. Cai Qi, secretary of the municipal CPC committee, delivered a speech. Xu Yousheng, director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, and Chen Jining, mayor of Beijing, were present at the ceremony.
Qi Jing, minister of United Front Work Department, read the commendation decision. Professor Peng Lian-Mao from School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) was among the 10 recipients and accepted award from Cai Qi, Xu Yousheng and Chen Jining. Peng is head of the Department of Electronics at EECS, whose current research focuses on nanoelectronic materials and devices. Peng also became the first PKUer to receive this honorary title.

Cai congratulated the recipients and expressed sincere gratitude to the overseas Chinese who have long been supporting the development of the capital. He hoped that overseas Chinese would continue to increase Beijing's international influence, make new contributions to maintaining prosperity and stability in Hong Kong and Macao, and promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.
